To-morrow, the 2nd of October, is the feast of our Guardian Angels. How much we owe these tutelary spirits, "...sent for service, for the sake of those who shall inherit salvation" (Heb. i, 14)!
Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom God's love commits me here,
Ever this day/night be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide.
From stain of sin O set/keep me free,
And at my death my comfort be.
An essay of mine on the regard and veneration we ought have for these angels the Lord has appointed to guard us, and on the necessity of their mission, may be of interest. (See also my post for this feast last year, including various devotions in their honour.)
