The indefatigable Fr Michael Rowe, Latin Mass Chaplain of the Archdiocese of Perth (and, de facto, of Western Australia), is again running his yearly Ignatian retreat, at the historic town of Toodyay, 85 km north-west of Perth - I attended it last year, and would recommend it:

An anonymous backbiter left a very rude comment, damning Fr Rowe with faint praise as an enthusiast without training or experience.
How appalling to say "the days when we need to make do with whatever we can get are past" - what callous rudeness unbefitting a Christian!
This is quite meanspirited and untrue.
Fr Rowe has given Ignatian retreats, both in W.A. and in N.S.W., for many years now; I - and the many retreatants he has helped - can testify that he has plenty of experience; given his evident knowledge of the Ignatian method his supposed lack of training rings hollow.
Fr Rowe is known for his extensive and careful study and preparation before his retreats, as I know for a fact having visited him while he was doing so.
The truth is that the FSSP was approached to conduct a retreat in Sydney, and they declined. The good folk then contacted Fr Rowe, since he was known to give Ignatian retreats in W.A., and he accepted the invitation to come and give retreats in Sydney, which he now done for a few years also.
The Flavigny retreats are of course to be likewise commended, and I hope to attend their sessions myself - but there is no call to curse others, something the monks would find vile.
