Two Excellent Articles

I don't regularly read Athanasius Contra Mundum, I find him a little unsettling, but I've just now read two excellent posts of his, essays really, that I commend to all:
  • an analysis of ex-Protestant, now Catholic apologists, elucidating differences between cradle Catholics and converts, including discussion of how both move in their different ways toward conservatism and then Traditionalism;
  • a reëvaluation of the Triumph of the Cross (how the great victory of Heraclius over the Persians was within a few years all for nothing, as the new Muslim threat erupted), comparing it with the complacency that some Traditionalists now have, since Pope Benedict freed the old Mass (so to speak) two years ago on this same feast, when they should instead redouble their efforts to grow holiness and fight the spiritual warfare.

  1. Ah yes, "disinherited." That sounds about right.

    And then there are the converts whose liturgy in their former churches was actually superior in aesthetics!

    Indeed, Josh. We must all grow in holiness.
